At the time that achieve popularity, the artists that origin born in Mojokerto, East Java, have died. Mbah Surip is a graduate from the Engineering School (ST) Pasna Wiyata in 1974 and graduated from the STM Brawijaya in 1977. He also had to continue to study Mechanical Engineering University of Sunan Giri Mojokerto branch in 1979.

After completing the course, mbah Surip married to Minuk Sulistyowati. From this marriage, he was 4 children, Tita (Prita), Farid (now become a champion manager Surip in Jakarta), Krisna (Nina) and Ivo (2 semester course still in the majors Unesa Japan Satra).

Before he come an artists, mbah Surip has undergo a variety of professions. He start working on the field of oil drilling first, diamond mines and even a man who has a degree Drs, Engineering and MBA is never venture outside the country such as Canada, Texas, Jordan, and California. Finally mbah Surip move to Jakarta. He joined to the community of artists, only a Teguh Karya, Aquila, Bulungan, and Taman Ismail Marzuki. He had received the award from MURI for action oldest sing this. He got the opportunity to enter the recording studio.

On Tuesday, 4 August 2009, mbah Surip was died. According to news circulate, mbah Surip against last breath at around 10:30 wib, who had previously brought to the hospital Pusdikkes, East Jakarta.

Mbah Surip died has status as widower for 26 years and left four children and four grandchildren. Corpse buried in the Theater Workshop WAS Rendra, Depok, West Java to rest forever.
